Hello. We are a polite chainsaw.

Dieser Beitrag ist noch nicht übersetzt, hier ist er auf Englisch.

Hi! I’m a solo developer from Ukraine, and Polite Chainsaw is my tiny studio. Tiny as in “one person”. The chainsaw is real, the politeness is mostly real.

What I’m making

Sur (a working title for now) is a co-op survival game for up to 10 friends. You play as the undead: the lowest rank of the afterlife, the ones nobody bothered to watch. So you broke into the realm of the gods.

The world is an archipelago. Every island belongs to a god, and every god is a boss fight. Kill the god, free the island, sail on. In the middle stands a volcano, and above it waits the last one.

Garm, the first god, resting in his arena at sunset

That big fellow is Garm, the beast that guards the way in. He is the first boss and the one I’ve spent the most time with so far.

He is also what I’m working on right now. Garm himself is in good shape, but his arena still looks like a placeholder: flat ground and plain walls. Next up is turning it into a proper scorched battlefield, with cracked earth, ash, broken walls and burnt trees. You’ll see the before and after here.

What this devlog will be about

  • new islands and bosses as they come together;
  • how the systems work: building, boats, magic ranks, a body that rots if you let it get wet;
  • the bugs. There will be bugs. Some of them are funny.

Sur is built in Godot. There is no release date and no Steam page yet. Both are coming, and the fastest way to hear about them is to follow the studio.

Thanks for stopping by. Politely, Polite Chainsaw
